Day 2: Bracket

 

After Day 1, teams will be seeded into the top 16 and bottom 16 teams and will play out two brackets, Division 1 (top 16) and Division 2 (bottom 16). Each team will have a minimum of one game on Day 2. A second game will be optional, but possible.

 

Ranking procedure to determine which division, can be found under Ranking Procedures. The group winner and runner-up of a group will enter Division 1. The other 2 teams of the group will enter Division 2.

Bracket Draw

 

For the first time in European Quidditch Cup history, the way the bracket will be set, is not by seeds. Due to the many times we've seen people misusing information or scores to get better or worse seeds to have a better position in the bracket, we decided that this won't happen any longer.

 

This is why we opted for a bracket draw. It's quite simple. A random group winner will play a random runner-up in Division 1. A random 3th placed team will face-off against a random 4th placed team in Division 2.

 

2 teams from the same group will not be facing each other in Round of 16.

 

The bracket draw will happen after the last gameslot on Day 1.

 

 

Division 1

 

Division 1 will open with a Round of 16. All winners (1) and runner-ups (2) from each group will enter Division 1.

 

Only the teams in Division 1 can win the European Quidditch Cup. Games are single-elimination; once a team loses a game they are out of the tournament. Eliminated division 1 teams will not be moved to Division 2. Teams eliminated in Round of 16 will get the option to play another team eliminated in Round of 16.

 

Bracket of Division 1 will be drawn as followed. The order is from "a" to "p":

 

1. A random group winner will be drawn

2. A random runner-up will be drawn

• If the runner-up is from the same group as the group winner, another runner-up will be drawn.

• The first drawn runner-up will return to the bowl shortly after.

 

For the purpose of drama, we will sometimes switch up the formula, and draw a runner-up first, followed by a group winnner.
